Color Schemes For Interior Design

What is a color scheme? There are many interior design color schemes that people may use in different rooms of their houses or they many choose to go with one scheme throughout the entire house. A color scheme is the colors that you use to create a look in your room. You color scheme may be all of the same color family or it may consist of different colors, all that matters is that these colors match each other and create the perfect look in your room.  

Some of the basic interior design color schemes that you can use come from the neutral color family. This family of colors consists of shades such as cream, buff and gray.  The word neutral is used as a umbrella term for colors that are naturally subdued and they work best with natural materials such as earth and stone.  When you look at neutral colors they do not immediately strike you as being either warm or cool colors. Neutral colors should be used as a balancer of all other colors in the room.                  

One of the most unlikely but still high effective interior design color schemes is that off black and white. People sometimes stay away from black and white because they think that it lacks something. They say that it creates a room without color, but this is not always the case. They are very useful as mixers when creating tints and shades. In the past when you purchases a can of white paint, you got just that, plain white paint. Today however, you can get different shades of white paint that can create quite a elegant look in your room. Then you can find a nice shade of black to compliment the whiteness of your room. The look can be quite nice if created carefully. 

Another fun and exciting interior color scheme that can be used to create a new look in your room is that of the pastel family. Pastel colors include powder blue, pink, rose and lemon to name a few. These colors are perfect for creating calm and serene schemes but sometimes if used in excess they can create  a room that distracting and that has too much color. When colors are used correctly and in moderation you can create an interior design color scheme that creates a fantastic looking room.
